Froguristic

Inspired by 19th century steam powered machinery, Froguristic, the Steampunk frog, has hopped into Stockport for a nostalgic visit to see where the old blends with the new. The 16th century Underbank banking hall is the perfect resting place where Froguristic can imagine steam trains chugging over the Victorian viaduct in the shadow of the 21st century Stockport Exchange.

Proudly sponsored by St Ann’s Hospice

St Ann’s is proud to be one of the oldest and largest adult hospices outside of London. St Ann’s believes that everyone deserves to have the best quality of life possible and aims to meet the unique physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs of those in their care and to help maintain their dignity. St Ann’s provides specialist palliative care at all stages of their illness; they also recognise that it is a difficult time for relatives, carers and friends and provide support for them too.

They have three locations across Greater Manchester: Heald Green, Little Hulton and the Neil Cliffe Centre based at Wythenshawe hospital. All their services are free of charge. Founded in 1971, this year St Ann’s celebrates its 50th anniversary and are Stockport’s Gigantic Art Trail chosen charity.

Lovingly created by Jane Clements

Jane grew up in Stockport and attended the Art Foundation Course at Stockport College in the 90s before doing a Design and Illustration degree at Liverpool JMU.

After a brief departure (a year traveling around the world, a 10 year career in IT sales and the birth of her son!) she returned to her creative roots and started to make beautiful silver fingerprint jewellery. After hitting it off with another new mum at a jewellery workshop, they soon decided to set up their first business ‘Love Prints’, specialising in personalised keepsakes. Building on their experience and success they then opened their second venture, the popular craft cafe ‘Create It’ in Cheadle, which is now in it’s 8th year of trading!

Being creative and encouraging others to express their creativity is Jane’s passion. Having the opportunity to design and paint a Stockport frog has been a highlight of 2021. Her Steampunk inspired design comes from her attraction to the more quirky and alternative aesthetic. She has a keen eye for detail and upon closer inspection there are many visual treats and local references for those who have the time to look for them! Find out more at the Create It website:
